-Hans Beckers and Kurt Demey find common ground in their use of natural elements, the pursuit of a magical experience, and interactions with and among the audience.-Rode Boom organizes ‘Experimentals’ where Kurt Demey enters into a collaboration with another artist, maker, or scientist, blind. Each participating person in the experiment starts from their own discipline and opens themselves up to the other discipline. Kurt Demey's approach is the circus discipline of magic. The general starting point for each experiment is the question: “What does the word magic or the feeling of magic mean to you?”. This is just the initial question, not a guide for the rest of the experiment. Each research project culminates in a performance.-For Hans Beckers, listening is a way to re-color the reality around us. His work originates from his fascination with the everyday sounds that surround us. Sounds in all their variety, complexity, and richness. He creates sound sculptures and self-built instruments, crafted from everyday found and collected objects. This demonstrates how materials not intended for musical purposes can still be seen as fully-fledged instruments. Beckers transforms objects and natural materials like desert sand, seeds, grass, steam, and water into vibrant sound works and performances.
